An Interview With Keirsten Greggs, CEO of Trap Recruiter

1. When was the first moment in your life that you felt powerful?
I’m not sure of the first, but I can tell you the last time I truly felt powerful was when I made the decision to be an entrepreneur full time.  I was laid off in 2016 and toyed around with the idea of starting my own company but wasn’t sure I had the ability to pull off on my own.  Desperation surrounding that uncertainty had me accept a placeholder job in April of 2017. I only lasted 9 days before took back my power and affirmed in myself that I would only do work, whether for myself or as an employee of a corporation that aligned with my core values.
2. Tell us about what you do?
I am a small business owner and Talent Acquisition, consultant. My mission is to bridge the gap between job seekers and organizations who are committed to fostering cultures of #DeliberateDiversity and #IntentionalInclusion.

3. Did you have leadership skills as a child or were you an observer?

I was a leader who observed situations and took control of them when I saw they were on the way to getting out of hand.

4. Are you an introvert or an extrovert? What helps you given your Myer’s Briggs Inventory?

I’m an ambivert. Everything I do must have balance. I get anxious when there is too much of one thing and I like to control and manage situations to suit the environment in which I’m operating.

6. What led you to your current career?

A layoff in 2016.
6. What advice would you give to a teenage girl entering college?
Don’t pigeon-hole yourself because you are still growing and learning who you are a person.  Study and engage in a wide variety of things even it appears that they conflict.  This is how you will discover your passion.
